Caleb Thomas

Hello!

My name is Caleb Thomas and I am a sophomore in Aerospace Engineering at NC State University. I take strong interests in my studies and always strive to do my very best on every challenge presented to me. I have a passion for constant learning and am always trying to expand my knowledge base and develop new skills. I especially enjoy working in Matlab and SOLIDWORKS on a regular basis. These programs offer me an opportunity to practice design and problem solving while building valuable engineering skills.

In addition to my studies, I also have several hobbies I enjoy. These include rock climbing, parkour, dancing and playing the guitar and drums. I’ve been playing music since I was seven years old, starting with acoustic guitar and moving on to cello, trumpet, and eventually percussion. Throughout middle school and part of high school I played electric guitar in a band, but now play snare drum on NC State’s drumline and play drum set for my church’s praise band. I marched Pioneer Drum Corps the summer of my junior year of high school, where I toured across the eastern side of the United States, performing shows all the way from Alabama to Kansas to Illinois.

My physical hobbies are parkour, rock climbing, and dancing. I love these activities because they allow me to express my creativity and problem solving through a physical outlet. I’ve been practicing parkour since sophomore year of high school and rock climbing since freshman year of college. unfortunately, I sustained and injury last spring and these activities are currently on the back-burner. My preferred dance is the shag, but I just recently got into blue dancing and west coast swing. I hope to pursue these dances more in the upcoming months.
